Native to tropical America and so does well in coastal areas, but is also surprisingly adapted to any type of soil and will grow well under other plants. This is why we use it in as many mixes as we can. The bright colored trumpets are lovely when they open in the afternoon over dark lush foliage. A cool sight in late summer. Scientists use these in studies of genetics and heredity.
